CALL TO ARTISTS EAST END WINDOW ARTS PROJECT THIS YEAR’S THEME: Carnaval DEADLINE: April 2, 2019 East Somerville Main Streets invite visual artists to submit work for East End Windows Project 2019 under the theme Carnaval. Selected work will hang in the windows of now-closed restaurant East End Grill at 118 Broadway This is a juried exhibit; East Somerville Main Streets staff and board members will review proposals. We seek work that can capitalize on the unique spaces of East Somerville and is bold and innovative—art that will capture people’s attention while walking through East Somerville and help convey the vibrant artistic and cultural energy of the area. Window dimensions: · One small window: 47” Wide X 57” Tall facing BROADWAY · Two tall large windows that reach the floor with four 23” Wide X 74” Tall panels each facing BROADWAY · One small window 43” Wide X 56” Tall facing BROADWAY · One Small window 36” Wide X 58” Tall facing GLEN STREET Windows facing BROADWAY have Northern exposure, the window facing GLEN has Western exposure. Please specify if you’d like your work to be displayed in a particular window. Inspired by the annual SomerStreets Festival Carnaval (June 2nd), we hope to explore the atmosphere and essence of Carnaval. Whether you choose to explore specific cultural celebrations or aspects of community, culture and celebration, we look forward to your creative interpretations of this theme. No stipend is available for this project at this time. Artists are encouraged to submit completed works that meets the theme for this project. East Somerville Main Streets staff will assist with installation of artist works at East End Grill. DATES Window exhibition dates: May 18 – June 15, 2019 with the possibility of extending longer depending on space availability. SomerStreets Carnaval Festival: June 2, from 2-6pm Installation dates: May 12-17 Take down dates: Jun. 15-18 **If selected, images must be ready to hang when delivered on drop off dates HOW TO APPLY Provide the following (typed) information: 1.
