February Exhibits at the Cambridge Art Association! - [somartscouncil]

Material Lamentations closes; 2019 Members Prize Show and 'This is how it starts' Open February 2019 at CAA Building a vibrant community through visual art, since 1944 Greetings! "We humans tend to set ourselves apart from the natural world, rather than see ourselves as intrinsic to it. Here, nine artists, including Michelle Lougee and Julie Poitras Santos, mourn the consequences of that estrangement, and find hope." ~ Cate McQuaid, Boston Globe I hope you had a chance to stop by the galleries in January to see our companion exhibits, Material Lamentations at our Kathryn Schultz Gallery, and Art, Grief, and the Land at University Place. Both exhibits explore the idea of solastalgia - 'the pain experienced when there is recognition that the place where one resides and that one loves is under immediate assault . . . a form of homesickness one gets when one is still at ‘home.’' This Saturday, we host a closing reception and talk with curator Patricia Miranda - Saturday, 2/2, noon-2pm, at our Kathryn Schultz Gallery. Scroll down for our February exhibits.
