Entry deadline: September 21, 2018 at 11:59pm EST ‌ ‌ ‌ CALL FOR ARTISTS | RED 2018 About RED: For nearly 20 years, the Cambridge Art Association (CAA) has hosted a fall exhibit, open to artists from the New England states, centered around a color – RED or BLUE, depending on the year. Both the success of the exhibit series, and the challenge to participating artists, lies in channeling the varied meanings of a color like RED. It is the color of action, violence, heat. It is the color of luck, happiness, and passion. RED is more than a color. DATES + DEADLINES Entry Deadline: September 21, at 11:59pm, EST Acceptance Notification: October 5, after 5pm, on cambridgeart.org Opening Reception: November 8, 6-8pm Exhibition Dates: November 8-December, 2018 PRIZES Best in Show Award | $500 Three Juror's Choice Awards | $150 each EXHIBITION LOGISTICS Entry Fees  All applicants may enter up to 3 pieces of original work General | $50 Cambridge Art Association Members (Artist, Associate, Student | $35 Eligibility Open to artists age 18 and older living and working in the New England States (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT) open to all media. Image courtesy of the artist. MEET OUR 2018 JUROR Dan Byers Dan Byers is the current John R. and Barbara Robinson Family Director of the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, at Harvard University. Byers has served as senior curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston since 2015. Recent projects included the solo exhibitions of Diane Simpson and Geoffrey Farmer, as well as the group exhibitions “The Artist’s Museum” and the 2017 “Foster Prize Exhibition.” Before his move to Boston, Byers was curator of modern and contemporary art at Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. There, he served as co-curator, with Daniel Baumann and Tina Kukielski, of the 2013 “Carnegie International,” a widely acclaimed global exhibition that staged a conversation in four parts: a major exhibition of new international art, a project on artist- and architect-designed playgrounds, the museum’s collection, and an engagement with the city of Pittsburgh. Other projects included solo exhibitions by Cathy Wilkes, Ragnar Kjartansson, and James Lee Byars, as well as the group exhibitions “Ordinary Madness” and “Reanimation: Jones, Koester, Nashashibi/Skaer.
