NEWS | Fall 2018 Programs

Greetings!

This Fall, in addition to an amazing line-up of exhibits, we are proud to present a diverse selection of programs for artists and art lovers!

Programs scheduled for the Fall include our ongoing drop-in Sunday Open Studio; Artist Talks in concert with our Fall exhibits; and our third year of art-music collaborations with the New Gallery Concert Series. New programs include an array of professional development workshops, including events that focus on perfecting your artist statement and selling artwork through Instagram!

Workshops 
Photographing Your Artwork
Presenter: Erik Gehring
Wednesday, September 12, 6:30-9pm | Kathryn Schultz Gallery
Fees: $25 for current CAA members; $40 for not-yet members

Artists need high-quality digital images for promotional purposes, as well as for submission to exhibits and other opportunities to display your artwork. This hands-on workshop is designed to teach artists how to create these images, using the tools they have at hand, whether they be professional digital cameras, point-and-shoots, or even their smartphone camera.

Preparing Your Artwork for Submission

You have high-quality images of your artwork. Now what? In this workshop, you will learn how to organize your catalog of work and streamline your work-flow as you prepare images of your artwork for submissions to exhibitions.

Instagram for Visual Artists

Learn how to use Instagram to showcase your artwork and connect with collectors and curators. You’ll learn how to get started with the platform and use it as part of your digital marketing strategy. Molly cover specific strategies for visual artists – including who to follow, how to increase engagement, hashtags, and the increasing importance of Insta stories. Please note that a smartphone is required to participate in this session.

Creating Your Vision
Presenter: David Lee Black

This uniquely experiential event is 35th in a series of wonderful workshops. Together we are growing a community of supportive and talented artists of all skill levels who connect through photography and a love of art.

Creating Your Vision involves a professional model interacting with the art of a unique space - in this case, the work in Creature Comforts.

Artist Statement Writing Workshop
Presenter: Christine Palamidessi

Fees: $50 for current CAA members; $75 for not-yet members

Want expert help writing your artist statement?
Attendees of this two-part workshop will end up with a succinct Artist Statement that can be used on their website, as well as for gallery, grant and residency submissions. Attendees will work collectively, receiving back-and-forth feedback from other artists in the workshop, to define and crystalize the emotion and intent of their work. There will be editing homework between sessions.

Selling Your Artwork on Instagram

You’ve created your Instagram account, connected with followers, mastered hashtags, and have a devoted following. So, now what?
Join Julia Powell (@juliaspowellart), in conversation with Margaret Sheldon, to learn how Julia has leveraged her 60k-plus followers on Instagram to sell her artwork and build a full-time, fine art career.
Julia and Margaret’s discussion will be followed by a brief Q&A session.
