CREATIVE OPPORTUNITY AT NAVE ANNEX
Looking for performers to act as human pedestals at the reception of the exhibit Restructured at Nave Annex in Somerville
WHEN: Friday, November 17, 5-8 pm
WHERE: Nave Annex, 53 Chester Street, Davis Square Somerville
WHAT: Perform as Unidentified Women during the reception of the upcoming exhibit Restructured, featuring artworks that question the definition of feminist art. Included will be 4 of my wearable headwear sculptures that examine the forces that have shaped women’s identities since the 18th century. For the reception we are looking for three participants to act as human pedestals. They will stand motionless, draped with something nondescript from the neck down (that I will provide), and be placeholders for the hat sculptures. Since one isn’t able to see out of the hats, you won’t be walking around. Instead the models will stand still and subtly change their position every few minutes without warning creating for the viewer a sense of uncertainty and mystery about who or what is present, or not.
