I'm very happy to have Joe Hunt & Yuka Hamano Hunt back to the Mandorla Music Series.    Joe's an unassuming guy but it's a real thrill to present a player with direct ties to such giants as Bill Evans and Stan Getz, both of whom he worked with early in his career.  For decades, he's reared generations of young drummers as an educator. Yuka is a pianist, vocalist composer and arranger with great love for the great American songbook, Brazilian sambas, and compositions by Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans, among other influences.  They both play with unassuming, understated warmth and taste.   This time, they'll be joined by Mark Pinto on alto saxophone and Bronek Suchanek on bass.

Small format Leap of Faith Orchestra performances at Third Life are pure improvisations by a subset of the full orchestra.  They will perform three short 20 minute improvisations of trio/quartet subsets of the band followed by a 50 minute improvisation with everyone...  These performances prepare them for interpreting frame notation / graphic Scores by PEK which guide the full ensemble improvisations while also standing on their own.

PEK - clarinets, saxophones, double reeds
Glynis Lomon - cello, aquasonic, voice
Yuri Zbitnov - drums, percussion
Kevin Dacey - percussion
Bob Moores - trumpet
Steve Provizer - trumpet, baritone
John Baylies - electric tuba
Dan O'Brien - clarinets, saxophones
Zach Bartolomei - saxophones, melodica
Eric Zinman - piano
Grant Beale – guitar

On Leap of Faith: "Alien yet familiar, bizarre yet completely fascinating. Expanding, contracting, erupting, settling down, always as one force..."  -- Supernovae
