Around Hear: Free Pop-Up Classical Concert for All Ages at the Somerville Public Library
Marji Gere, local artist and teacher, will perform a free classical music concert on Saturday, May 20, at 2 pm at the Somerville Public Library at 79 Highland Ave. as part of her pop-up music series Around Hear.
For this Somerville Arts Council-funded project, she has developed an inclusive, innovative concert format that welcomes listeners of all ages to notice, document, and share their emotional, creative, and physical responses to the music via the outlets of visual art, writing, and movement.
These events revolve around a wide range of music for solo violin: a fantasy by the Baroque-era tunesmith Georg Frederic Teleman, Paul Hindemith's poetic meditations on spring weather, and Mario Davidovsky's far out conversation between human violinist and 1980's musical robot. Please check out her video on YouTube.
