For many years, pianist John Kordalewski has helmed the acclaimed Makanda Project.  Mandorla Music is pleased to welcome him for a rare appearance in a very different setting - a classic piano trio. John will be joined by bassist Carlos Pino anddrummer Kesivan Naidoo.  He describes Pino, currently completing his Master’s degree in jazz studies at the New England Conservatory, as one of the most versatile bass players that has emerged from Colombia in recent years. Kesivan Naidoo is recognized as one of South Africa's top jazz drummers, and presently makes his home in NYC after spending some time in Boston at Berklee's Global Jazz Initiative.   Expect a program of compositions by such pianist-composers as Cedar Walton, Horace Silver and Mulgrew Miller, and music from and inspired by Pino's Colombia and Naidoo's South Africa.
