Eight Somerville residents will perform as part of the orchestra. They are: violinists Josh Garstka, Daphne Layton, and Tadhg Pearson, violists Sam Duncan and Kim Etingoff, cellist Allison Reid, oboist Carolyn Hayes, and percussionist Natalie Shelton-May.

For the centerpiece of this concert, Michael Tippett’s powerful oratorio A Child of Our Time, the CSO welcomes back acclaimed soprano Indra Thomas, renowned mezzo-soprano Joanna Porackova, and tenor Ray Bauwens, and welcomes baritone Ron Loyd, plus the New England Conservatory (NEC) Youth Chorale and NEC Concert Choir directed by Jonathan Richter.

Written in response to Nazi oppression in prewar Germany, the oratorio integrates the music of African-American spirituals into Tippett's universal cry for peace and healing.

Rounding out the program, CSO also performs William Walton’s triumphant march Crown Imperial and George Gershwin’s irresistible tone poem An American In Paris.

Tickets are available now at Ticket prices are $25 (adult general seating) and $15 (students and seniors).
