SCATV Community Media Day Schedule
Community Media Day & Open House | Thursday, October 20th | 12-6pm
SCATV will join other community media centers across the country for the newly sanctioned free speech holiday called "Community Media Day." It is important to note that the City of Somerville passed a resolution acknowledging and proclaiming October 20th at Community Media Day here in our fine city! Many kudos to Alderman Matthew McLaughlin for leading this effort!
NOW WHAT IS COMMUNITY MEDIA DAY?
Community Media Day is a new annual celebration of voices that brings awareness to the importance of free speech and accessible media for all individuals to have their voices heard.
On this day SCATV will open up our space from 12pm until 6pm, offering many fun-filled activities for the general public to learn more about Somerville's premiere media center. We'll have an outdoor pop-up radio booth, free hands-on youth media making projects, TV studio training, green screen & PSA recordings and more!
We are happy to partner with many other local media efforts like Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism (BINJ) and SCOUT Somerville as well as some of our members to make this a fun-filled day of showcasing just how accessible and creative Somerville's premiere media center can be! We hope to see you stop by so we can give you a tour!
