community presentation: “Remembering 1915: The 100-Year Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide,” - May 28, 2015, from 7-9 pm
Please join me for a community presentation as a 2015 Somerville Arts Council Literature Fellow, called “Remembering 1915: The 100-Year Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide,” on May 28, 2015, from 7-9 pm at the Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Avenue, Somerville.
I will show some slides to bring alive the richness and beauty of historic Armenia while conveying the immense tragedy of 1915. I will also read from my young adult novel “The Devil’s Kaleidoscope” about a 14-year-old Armenian boy caught up in the genocide. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Somerville Arts Council, and supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
I am honored to be a SAC fellow this year and hope to inspire others to write, look into their own family histories and try to find a way to express what can’t easily be said. Hope to see you there!
