Dear Sistema Somerville Supporter,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying the fall weather. We have lots in store and much to share with you here at El Sistema Somerville.
HARVEST CONCERT
Our first concert of the 2014-2015 season will take place on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014 at 7PM in the East Somerville Community School. Works to be performed include fiddle, fun, and folk pieces to celebrate the Harvest Season. Please come out and enjoy performances by El Sistema Somerville students, mentors, community ensemble, and faculty.

"MUSICIANS WITH A MISSION" PRIVATE LESSON PROGRAM
We are excited to announce the generous support of the Mifflin Memorial Fund in the foundation of “Musicians with a Mission,” an initiative that places skilled professional musicians with outstanding young student musicians for weekly private lessons. El Sistema Somerville will accept applications and hire ten professional musicians to provide weekly private lessons throughout the 2014-2015 school year. Interested musicians are invited to send a letter of inquiry to Diane Cline. The deadline for application is November 15, 2014.
SPECIAL PERFORMANCE HONORING MAESTRO ABREU
On Saturday, September 20th, 2014, two El Sistema Somerville students performed with the Longy Side-by-Side orchestra, in honor of Maestro José Antonio Abreu at Bard College. During the event, Maestro Abreu was awarded an honorary doctorate and addressed the students with caring, inspiring remarks.
