CAMBRIDGE ART ASSOCIATION EXHIBITION - May 16 - June 26, 2014
TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!
Come celebrate the opening of the Cambridge Art Association's 13th National Prize Show this evening, Friday May 16, from 6-8pm. Mix and mingle with exhibiting artists, community members, and our fantastic juror, James Welu!
Gallery locations:
Kathryn Schultz Gallery 25 Lowell Street, Cambridge
University Place Gallery 124 Mt Auburn Street, Cambridge
(The distance between the galleries is 0.6 miles, or a 10 minute walk!)
From our juror:
Jurying the National Prize Show was exciting and challenging--exciting to see such a wide range of art from across the country, but challenging to narrow a field of over a thousand entries to an exhibition of about 85 works. In my selection I focused on visual impact and originality with the goal of representing the variety of media that was submitted. I was particularly attentive to the artists' choice and use of medium for expressing the subject of their work. It was reassuring to see so many fresh and innovative approaches to a number of traditional subjects. Also impressive were the number of outstanding abstract paintings. I want to convey my appreciation to the many artists who entered the National Prize Show and congratulate those who made the cut, in particular the prize winners.
Can't make it to the opening? The show will be on view through June 26, 2014. Check out previews of the show on our Instagram. #CAAnps
