LIVE THEATER IN SOMERVILLE - March 13, 2014
For the first time, Bare Bones: Staged Readings at Theatre@First brings you three short plays about assumptions and misunderstandings:
Trifles, written by Susan Glaspell and directed by Deirdre Purcell
What could have caused Mrs. Wright to murder her husband? The Sheriff is sure she did, but only the women can see the reasons that might have caused this lonely wife to make her desperate decision. Exploring gender roles, marital relationships, and the everyday experiences of women, this play represents the voices of women breaking through in the pre-suffrage U.S., but also highlights issues of inequality and oppression that are still valid today.
Ludlow Fair, written by Lanford Wilson and directed by Andrea Humez
When you're having a romantic crisis of conscience, it's good to have a roommate to help you work through your feelings, but it's tiresome to have a roommate who insists on working through her feelings all the time.
Small World, an original work written by Josh Coleman and directed by Anna Smith
Small World is a comedy taking place during a chain of break-ins occurring on the Cape. When a young couple attempt the home of an elderly husband and wife, they believe they have met their unlikely match - but somehow find a certain common ground...
ONE NIGHT ONLY!
