CAMBRIDGE ART ASSOCIATION 2014 GALA - April 12, 2014
When was the last time you spent a night out supporting a great cause AND having fun?
On April 12th, Cambridge Art Association celebrates our annual Gala at a new venue, Arlington Town Hall. With delicious small plate meals, an open wine and beer bar, live music, and an auction, it promises to be a night to remember. Guests will also have the chance to participate in 'making' a piece of art!
Beyond tasty treats and fabulous auction items, why should you come? Because you will be actively supporting the work that the Cambridge Art Association has undertaken for nearly 70 years - supporting local art and artists. And here is what supporting the arts means to us:
It means presenting 20 exhibitions of work by local and regional emerging and mid-career artists each year.
It means creating access to local gallerists, collections managers, and arts professionals through our annual Portfolio Review Day, show juries, and more for our 450 Artist Members.
It means providing Artist Member scholarships to a half dozen - or more - artists who might not otherwise be able to participate.
It means sponsoring an annual scholarship to an outstanding student in need from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, allowing them to pursue their creative education. In 2013, we awarded $1000 to Christopher Baker-Albertz, who is studying architecture at Hampshire College.
It means exploring CREATIVITY at the Gately Youth Center in North Cambridge, encouraging students who might not make art to work together to CREATE with non-traditional materials.
And, it means being able to brainstorm and develop new, high-quality programs aimed to enforce the creative community we are so privileged to be a part of.
YOUR support makes all of this possible. Every time you read one of these emails, visit one of our galleries, like something on our Facebook page, or donate a dollar, YOU are voicing your support for the arts in Cambridge. I hope you will continue to support - and celebrate - with us on April 12th. I'll be there with my dancing shoes on!
Best regards,
Erin Becker
