Some Bios
Flutist, conductor, teacher, and arranger Orlando Cela embraces all aspects of music. From Vivaldi's Double Concerto with Paula Robison to Indian classical music with Samir Chatterjee, Orlando is an accomplished musician in a wide variety of styles and settings. He performs regularly with the I/O New Music Ensemble, Music at Eden's Edge, Duo SopraVoce (with violinist Annegret Klaua), and as a solo performer, collaborating with musicians such as pianists Aaron Jackson, Yukiko Shimazaki, Sivan Etedgee, harpist Barbara Poeschl-Edrich, and many more. He has premiered many works by composers such as Anthony De Ritis, Maxwell Dulaney, Zhu Shu Jia, and Benoit Granier, to name a few. He has performed in many parts of the USA and abroad in the Czech Republic, Austria, China, Hungary, Spain, and Great Britain.
Thadd Comstock plays a custom 25 fret, 7 string acoustic microtonal guitar. The frets are evenly spaced, so the intervals grow larger as you go up the neck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w719vuzuOgE
Jenifer Gelineau is a violinist from Holyoke MA.
Andrea Pensado began playing piano as a girl, with private instruction. She obtained her BA in Music Education from the University of La Plata in 1987. Immediately following, she moved to Poland where she continued her studies at the Krakow Academy of Music. Pensado graduated in Composition with honors in 1995. In 2002, Pensado moved to the USA where she has performed solo and with many others. She uses MaxMSP as her main programming tool. The approach to programming and performance is highly intuitive. Occasionally, the combination of the performance situation, the often abrasive sounds, the irrational use of the voice and the inherent uncertainty of improvisations contributes to discoveries of unknown places in her mind.
Matt Samolis is a composer, flutist and improvisre in Boston MA. He curates the Advent Library Concert Series and for years has performed in the Metal and Glass ensemble.
I'd M Thfft Able makes music with found objects and his voice. He has a beard and lives in Portland Maine. https://www.facebook.com/idmtheftable
Doug Van Nort is a sonic experimentalist who explores the complex and embodied nature of listening, immersive experiences and the radical sculpting of sonic materials in dialogue with his acoustic environment. he often performs solo as well as with a wide array of artists, from free improvisation and electroacoustics to dance and performance art. Ongoing collaborations include Triple Point with Pauline Oliveros and Jonas Braasch, a duo with If, Bwana, and working as a member of the Composers Inside Electronics, while his music appears on several labels including Deep Listening, Pogus and Zeromoon.
Walter Wright is an artist working in video, computer imaging, sound and painting. He runs the 119 Gallery in Lowell MA.
