CAMBRIDGE ARTS GRANTS PROGRAM - 2015
The Cambridge Arts Council is thirlled to announce the 2014 grant awards, with a total of $50,000 in grants to 34 Cambridge-based individuals and organizations! Funding goes towards a wide variety of creative and innovative projects and initiatives that are of outstanding artistic quality and demonstrate a strong community benefit.
Announcing the awards Jason Weeks, Cambridge Arts Executive Director, noted, “The City of Cambridge makes a critical investment in local artists and the arts and cultural life of the city through the annual Cambridge Arts Grant Program. The arts fill the city with vibrancy and have a positive impact on the character of the neighborhoods, the strength of our business districts and the overall well-being of all those who live, work or visit Cambridge.”
Artists receive grants through a rigorous selection process. A volunteer panel of Cambridge residents and arts professionals with expertise in the arts reviewed all 2014 applications, ensuring that the voice of the community is well integrated into the decision-making process. Applications were submitted in seven discipline areas: Music, Dance, Theater, Literature, Visual Art, Film/ Video & Multidisciplinary and final decisions were based on the quality of the projects and their benefit to citizens and visitors of Cambridge. Funding for the grant program is provided by the City of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
