The Parkman - Webster Murder Case

The 1849 murder of George Parkman in Boston stands as the most sensational case
of its time, and the prosecution of John Webster is often described as the O.J.
Simpson trial of the 19th century. Ultimately, the case spawned books, documentaries

The Last Tenement

"The Last Tenement" exhibition, originally set up in 1992 at the Old State House
by the Bostonian Society through a grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities
and relocated to the West End Museum in 2006, is now permanently housed in its own
dedicated 1100 square foot space.

renewal, a number of historically significant buildings were preserved. These buildings

The Parkman - Webster Murder Case

The 1849 murder of George Parkman in Boston stands as the most sensational case
of its time, and the prosecution of John Webster is often described as the O.J.
Simpson trial of the 19th century. Ultimately, the case spawned books, documentaries
and even an iPhone app. To this day-more than 160 years later-Webster's guilt is
debated.

"The Last Tenement" exhibition, originally set up in 1992 at the Old State House
by the Bostonian Society through a grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities
and relocated to the West End Museum in 2006, is now permanently housed in its own
dedicated 1100 square foot space.

When the West End was torn down and redeveloped in the late 1950's as part of urban
renewal, a number of historically significant buildings were preserved. These buildings
represent a lineage of early Boston architects: Charles Bulfinch, Asher Benjamin,
Alexander Parris and Gridley J.F. Bryant.
