SOMERVILLE GARDEN CLUB OCTOBER MEETING - October 9, 2013

Brian Leib, Plant Growth Facility Manager at Harvard University's Weld Hill Research Building at the Arnold Arboretum, is the featured speaker for the October meeting of the Somerville Garden Club. For over a decade Brian has been heavily involved in the "wonderful world of all things orchid", serving in a variety of positions on the board of the Massachusetts Orchid Society, and participating in various online orchid forums. He is also very experienced in diagnosing and treating plant pests of all types.Brian's talk will focus on the care and varieties of the Asiatic Lady's Slipper Orchid, and touch on the genus of South American slippers, and slippers that grow in temperate regions around the world.
The Somerville Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of every month; all meetings are free and the public is invited to attend. Each meeting begins with club announcements, followed by a horticultural question and answer session, a lecture or demonstration, and concludes with a raffle of donated plants and garden items. Parking is available onsite, and the building is a short walk from the Davis Square T station.
