SOMERVILLE ART EVENT - September 9-11, 2013
As a part of our Davis Square Planning Charrette and Pop-Up Plaza events planned for next week (September 9-11), we have organized an interesting demonstration project and would appreciate your assistance in promoting it.
On Monday morning from 9am - 12pm (ish) Mike Lydon of the Street Plans Collaborative (and co-author, with myself, of the Tactical Urbanism series of guide books) will lead a hands-on "Chair Bombing" workshop. We will be building shipping pallet chairs and then distributing them around our pop-up plaza and other locations in Davis Square as temporary public furniture.
We are welcoming volunteers from the public (not just artists) that would like to come learn and build with us. We will be providing all the necessary tools, hardware, and raw materials for chair building. We also welcome anyone bringing in fast drying paint/stain if they would like to decorate the chair they build. Power tools will be controlled by city staff.
Anyone interested in attending could come by 377 Summer on Monday September 9th and should feel free to email me or call 617-625-6600 x2543 with questions.
