SOMERVILLE AMORY EVENTS - May 7 - 12, 2013

Here are this week's events at the Armory! It's a pretty quiet week in the Hall, but there are Cafe events most nights, plus the Somerville Open Studios Kids' Art Show remains on display in the Cafe until May 10th.

Teen Open Mic Night
Tue May 7, 6-8 PM, in the Cafe, FREE
Co-sponsered by Arts at the Armory, Books of Hope, Groundwork
Somerville, and Teen Empowerment. Teen Open Mic Night sponsors teenagers
playing an instrument, performing songs, reading poems and telling
jokes.

The Ways and Means Committee
Wed May 8, 8-10 PM, in the Cafe, FREE
The Ways and Means Committee are comprised of five local dudes. All
acoustic: banjo, guitar, bass, harmonica, percussion, ukulele, vocals,
and mandolin. They will be playing music of yesterday and today.

Getoff My Lawn!-presented by NAME REDACTED
Thu May 9, 8-10:30 PM, in the Cafe, FREE
Kids these days. They're always getting together and telling jokes with
their twitters full of drugs and their NERF brand balls. That said,this
event will put some of them together to tell some jokes and do some
goofabouts along with your NAME REDACTED favorites. Comedy galore!

David Tanklefsky and friends
Fri May 10, 7-10:30 PM, in the Cafe, FREE
David Tanklefsky's Armory Cafe residency continues... come and enjoy a
wonderful musical evening at the Armory!

Coo & Howl and friends
Sat May 11, 7:30-10:30 PM, in the Cafe, FREE
More music! Coo & Howl are joined by The One Smith and Subpar Co-star
for a triple-bill musical evening in the Cafe.

Second Sundays Open Stage
Sun May 12, 7-10PM, in the Café, FREE
The second Sunday of every month at 7 PM, Leon Rich hosts The Arts at
the Armory Café Second Sundays Open Stage. Performers are invited to
sign up and perform for 5 minutes or shorter including setup. There will
be a video of each performance made available later in the month. Each
month will most likely include a featured artist playing a 25-minute
set.

Boston Rueda Salsa
Sun May 12, 7-10 PM, in the Hall, $5
Boston Rueda's monthly social comes to the Armory. No partner or
experience required. This circular style of salsa dancing is a fun,
friendly cross between salsa and square dance. (Wear comfortable
shoes!)

SOS Kids' Art Show
on display in the Cafe until May 10
Paintings, drawings, and sketches from some of Somerville's younger
artists (up to age 14), on display as part of Somerville Open Studios.
