SCATV GALLERY EXHIBITION - March 4-27, 2013
RECENT WORK by Danielle Festa is currently on exhibit in the SCATV Gallery for the month of March. Festa is fascinated with what people wear. She isn’t being judgmental. She is just curious about what our clothing (choices) reveals about us and how those choices influence our views of others.
Danielle Festa describes her approach to painting as conceptual realism. This artist works from her own photographs. She uses a series of portraits to explore how a single piece cloth, a brand name, or single piece of clothing can shape the way others see us. Ms Festa has found creative ways to incorporate the fabric into her paintings. She cut, tied, and glued fabric together, painted on denim and animal print silks. Danielle also wove a spectacular red hat for her grandmother’s ‘portrait, and dressed her up her boyfriend’s business casual white shirt with a real stripped tie!
