MASSART GRADUATE PROGRAM SCHOLARHIP FUNDRAISER - November 15, 2012
MassArt's Graduate Programs invite you to an evening of music, food, and an art auction to benefit graduate scholarships.
Thursday, November 15, 2012
240 Elm Street, Somerville, MA 02144
Doors Open at 6:30 pm
Live Auction Starts at 7:30 pm
For one night only, Massachusetts College of Art and Design will be exhibiting and auctioning artworks curated by jurors Camilo Alvarez, Dina Deitsch, and Kanishka Raja.
The name of the event ('Night in the Box') refers to the punishment which befalls the title character of the novel (1966) and film (1967) Cool Hand Luke, made famous by Paul Newman as the ultimate anti-establishment anti-hero, whose infringement of prison rules lands him a dreaded “night in the box.”
The event will be held in 10,000 square feet of raw space (‘the Box’) on the site of the former premises of the Social Security Administration in Somerville, MA, and feature DJs, food and drink donated by local restaurants, and an exhibition and auction of artwork by 74 artists.
MassArt’s MFA is the top-rated program in the state and one of the top 25 in the US. Last year MassArt’s Graduate Programs offered more than $350,000 in scholarships to accepted students.
The exhibition and auction will provide valuable exposure and income (up to 50% of the auction proceeds) for MassArt students, alumni and friends as well as a new source of support for MassArt’s graduate scholarships. 100% of MassArt’s proceeds will benefit graduate scholarships.
General Public $50
