SOMERVILL ARTBEAT ARTS FESTIVAL SEEKS VOLUNTEERS - July 20 & 21, 2012

ArtBEAT 2012 is quickly approaching. We will be needing volunteers to help sell our famous dogtags on Friday evening July 20 and Saturday July 21 during the day. Below, you will find a detail description of the dogtag position. Whether it is solo or with a friend, it is always a fun time. If you are interested, please contact Heather at hbalchunas@somervillema.gov or call 617-625-6600 x-2985 if you have questions. Thanks so much and hope to see you at ArtBEAT 2012 Dog Tag Sales (Roaming) --Out of all the positions, this one is most crucial! We need folks who are friendly, outgoing and comfortable approaching festival goers; if this isn't you, let the volunteer coordinator know and we can hopefully find another job for you. --After checking in with volunteer coordinator, check in with the dog tag banker to receive a cash bank and dog tags. Dog tags cost $3 and we'll give you a bag of 30. --Circulate at festival selling dog tags. Call out/or as you chat with people say: "please support the festival, support the arts council, buy a dog tag for $3." Let folks know buying a dog tag helps keep this free public festival running, year after year. A dog tag also serves as a ticket for indoor dance performances at the Somerville Theatre. About ArtBEAT 2012 http://somervilleartscouncil.org/artbeat/2012 During the heat of summer, artists and festival goers converge on Davis Square, transforming it into one of the area's largest and most innovative arts festivals. ArtBeat includes music, performance art, craft vendors, dance, theater, food, and a whole lot more. About the theme Migration Migration evokes many ideas: movement, immigration, Monarch butterflies fluttering en masse and New England snowbirds heading to Florida's balmy shores. We encourage artists to explore migration in various ways. Visual artists might explore: how forms morph and moveā€”like atoms within a molecule, for example. Dancers might explore flight patterns of migratory birds. Other ideas include an interactive map project in which Somervillians trace their migratory route to Somerville. Migration also can be explored from environmental, geo-political and inter-galactic angles. We look forward to your creative interpretations of this year's theme!
