MASSCREATIVE GOES PUBLIC - November 28, 2011

MassCreative's mission is to advocate for the nonprofit arts, humanities, and sciences in Massachusetts by seeking state, federal, and local funding for the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, and Local Cultural Councils. MassCreative works to build and maintain a vital network of nonprofit organizations, businesses, creative entrepreneurs, artists and sector supporters; building strategic alliances in support of the nonprofit cultural sector.

Over the past 20 months a representative group from the field has conducted research, convened stakeholders, surveyed the field and crafted a finely tuned advocacy organization for the 21st century. With support from the Boston Foundation we have created a strong institutional framework for MassCreative comprised of three key elements:

An Action Network - a coalition of advocates representing 12 regions spread across Massachusetts that will serve as our grassroots organizers.
An Advisory Board that will guide the organization through its startup stage as we set our agenda, build membership, and widen our base of support.
Staff, led by an executive director, to serve as MassCreative's chief executive officer.

We believe this structure reflects a powerful foundation and vision for MassCreative and ensures a sustainable advocacy organization that will build upon our sector's strengths and values.

Through the creation of an Action Network our goal is to work side-by-side with the MCC to build and maintain a vital statewide network of arts and cultural organizations as well as businesses and creative entrepreneurs, while building strategic alliances across sectors; and working with public agencies at local, state, and federal levels to increase and expand public and private resources.

Next week we will publicly launch our search for the executive director. Additional information will be released on the roll out of this initiative. We hope you will join this effort and consider supporting MassCreative with your time and/or resources.

Stay tuned for the public announcement, and please contact F. Javier Torres with any questions in the meantime.

Sincerely,

Paul Grogan Anita Walker
