“Small Works” – affordably priced original work! at the Riverside Gallery in Cambridge
What:
“Small Works” – a show of affordably priced original work. This show is targeted to holiday sales, and will include a significant number of works sold by auction.

Details:
¨ You must pre-register for this show, and receive confirmation from the Gallery in order to participate. Gallery willrespond usually within one week of receiving your registration.
¨ Staffed drop-off time for art works is Sunday Nov 13, 1-3 PM. You may also bring work on Monday afternoon, Nov 14. Details will be sent to accepted artists.
¨ Artists Reception will be in December, probably 4th or 11th. There is no parking restriction on Sundays.
¨ The show runs until mid-January.
¨ All work must be original - reproductions are not invited.
¨ All work must be for sale.
¨ All work must be 2-D, or able to hang on the wall.
¨ Pieces must be ready to hang; they may be framed and wired, or they may be sealed in clearbags, matted or not, and accompanied by a bulldog-type clip which you provide. The gallery will not be able to do any modifications of your work to make it hangable.
¨ All artists must provide wall labels (details will be sent.)
¨ There is no fee for participation; when work is sold, the Gallery keeps 30% and gives 70% to the artist.
¨ We suggest a range $25-$250 as the most likely to sell, but you may submit works outside of this range.
¨ Artists must help out in two or more ways: helping to hang the show, gallery-sitting, providing refreshments, promotional publicity for the show.
¨ The Gallery expects artists to read instructions thoroughly, and to be courteous and responsible.
¨ The Riverside Gallery is open M-F 9-2, and some Sundays 12-4.
¨ The Riverside Gallery is hosted by the Cambridge Community Center, which serves a broad population, including young children. The Riverside Gallery is very grateful for the venue, and accepts the constraints of not displaying artworks including graphic violence, or graphic erotic works.
¨ Depending on the number of artists accepted, we anticipate artists will be able to display 4-8 small works, or fewer larger works. Work may be replaced when sold.
¨ Preference factors for participant selection include: reading and following instructions, suitability of work for show, behaving courteously and responsibly, living or working in Cambridge.
¨ We encourage artists to offer at least half of their work at auction; minimum bid may be set. This has been a successful way of stimulating sales, and making for an exciting show, and at the same time, getting our art into the hands of appreciative art-lovers.
