Axiom Artists' Talk
Axiom Center for New and Experimental
Media presents an Artist Talk for "What
Stands Between Us and the Sun," the
newest project from the Rhode
Island-based artist team of Megan and
Murray McMillan.
"What Stands Between Us and the Sun" is
a new photo, installation, and video project. In a warehouse in Central Falls,
RI, the
McMillans built an artificial lake in an
invented world where performers alter the
lake's structure to fabricate an eclipse of
the sun. The work shown at Axiom is an installation containing video, photography
and elements that are made from, and refer to, the set created in Rhode Island.
Megan and Murray McMillan have been collaborating since 2002. Their projects begin
with the building of a theatrical set, acting as a stage for video and photography
production. The moving compositions use an elegant, loosely narrative language of
dolly shots, fluid camera movements, and ethereal theatrical lighting. The resulting
video is shown as part of a related installation that employs the visual and thematic
elements from the original set.
The artists will discuss the work and take questions on Tuesday, November 9 from

Feelin' Some TXTual Healing...
Paul Notzold brings TXTual Healing to Central Square on Election Night, Tuesday,
November 2, 6:00 p.m.
In this installment of his ongoing performance series, artist Paul Notzold will
project interactive speech bubbles on a building in Lafayette Square (near the
intersection of Main St. and Mass Ave). The community is invited to participate
by sending a text message to a phone number provided in the projection. TXTual
Healing is hosted by the Cambridge Arts Council, held in conjunction with the
exhibition Of, By, and For: New Work by Daniel Peltz and Paul Notzold ongoing at

Subliminal Messages?
The John Nicholas Brown Center at Brown University presents liminal/subLiminal,
a multi-media sound installation by Lyn Goeringer that incorporates videos of streetlights,
amplified sodium
halide lamps, and field recordings.
In process for over a year, Goeringer has taken videos of streetlights and the concrete
under them as the lights turn on at dusk throughout Providence, Rhode Island to
create her sound + video installation liminal. In addition to liminal, she has also
created subLiminal, a room filled with amplified sodium halide lamps, flickering
and fluttering as they buzz in time with their flickerings.
The show opens with a reception on November 4th from 6-8 pm.

Dietz, Artistic Director of ZER01, producers of the 01SJ Biennial dedicated to inspiring
creativity at the intersection of art, technology and digital culture, will give
a talk tonight, Monday, November 1st, at the MIT Bartos Theater.
Dietz is a self-proclaimed serial platform creator. He previously founded Northern
Lights and is the former Curator of New Media at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, where he founded the New Media Initiatives department in 1996, the online
art Gallery 9 and digital art study collection. Dietz also founded one of the earliest,
museum-based, independent new media programs at the Smithsonian American Art Museum
in 1992.

The next Boston Cyberarts Festival is scheduled for April 22-May 8, 2011, and now's
the time we need to get participating organizations lined up.
Several of the most prestigious organizations in the area have already signed up
to participate, including the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, the Davis Museum,
and Fuller Craft Museum.
