Refresh at Axiom
We hope you have a chance to come to Axiom to see "Refresh," an exhibition of video
and animation work that explores an alternative aesthetic in digital media artwork.
Refresh, curated by Yuri Stone, features a group of artists that all ask the viewer
to reevaluate our collective definition of digital beauty and the value we place
on visual quality in contemporary culture.
The exhibition is curated by Yuri Stone, anda the artists include: Nick Briz, Michelle
Ceja, Clint Ennis, Elna Frederick, Doug Goodwin and Rebecca Baron, Duncan Malashock,
Rosa Menkman, Andrew Rosinski, and Nicolas Sassoon. .
Spanning from 8bit and ascii animations to manipulated digital video, this exhibition
creates an aesthetic and conceptual dialogue that allows us to question conventions
of digital media in our society as well as our relationship to new and past technology.
"Refresh" is on view through August 28, 2010. Axiom is located at 141 Green Street

Between Form and Color
Howard YezerskiGallery is presenting "Between Form and Color," a sculpture installation
by John Powelland James Tellin, on view now through August 20.
John Powell, internationally known for his architectural lighting of buildings and
bridges, brings his work inside for this exhibition. He lights simple metal objects
on the wall using color. The materiality of the metal combined with the painterly
shadow on the wall create a wonderful confluence of material and light. John has
been a participant in past Cyberarts Festivals, so we hope you'll check out his
work.
James Tellin has been working with wood since the early 1990s. Combining elements
from sculpture, art furniture and landscape painting, Tellin allows us another way
of looking at these three disciplines.

Steampunk Competition
Our friends at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation have announced
Steampuffin's First Annual Steampunk Form & Function Design Competition.
Steampunk design solutions are primarily built using authentic Victorian (1850s
to early 1900s) objects, recycled items, salvage items, clothing and antiques that
incorporate modern technology and have specific functions for modern day, practical
uses. The competition brings together outstanding Steampunk design innovations,
details the design process and promotes the role of the Steampunk designer/craftsman.

Call for Entries: Digital'2010
There's still time to enter Digital'2010: PLANET EARTH, the twelfth international
digital print competition and exhibition organized by Art & Science Collaborations,
Inc. (ASCI)
For Digital'2010, artists and scientists are invited to submit digital prints that
reflect their perceptions of our planet. Are these perceptions changing as we learn
more about Earth from explorers, scientists, and artists? What is the relationship
between living things and planet Earth? What images are evoked by calling it the
blue planet or the peaceful planet or the changing planet? What is the impact of
humans on the whole planet? What is our concern for its future?
The deadline for entries is August 16. Jurors are Maddy Rosenberg, owner/director
of Central Booking in DUMBO, Brooklyn; and Patrick Hamiltonof the Science Museum
of Minnesota. Selected works will be exhibited at the New York Hall of Science

to waste. The next Boston Cyberarts Festival is scheduled for April 22-May 8, 2011,and
now's the time we need to get participating organizations lined up.
If you're an organization and are considering an art-and-technology-related show
