ARTIST DEMONSTRATION IN GLOUCESTER

Artist Demonstration by Frank Federico
Saturday, May 9, 2008 at 3pm

North Shore Arts Association
11 Pirates Lane, Gloucester

In addition to his solo exhibition entitled Color / Energy / Passion, on display May 6 - 26 at North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester, Frank Federico will give a demonstration on site on May 9th at 3pm. Federico will work in pastel over water media.

Federico's demonstration will enable viewers to see an energetic and progressive approach to painting. Layering media gives Federico the ability to bring out whichever medium speaks to him the most during his process. He explains, "I will begin a ‘regular' watercolor which involves washes and a painterly approach. This is done on a pastel friendly surface. Then I will use pastel over the watercolor, with the idea of the watercolor serving as my color, value and emotional base." Whether the finished piece ends up as a pastel or mixed media will be determined at the end of the demonstration. It could be a pastel if that covers eighty percent of the surface or a mixed medium if he wants to maintain more of the watercolor.

Frank Federico is a seasoned artist with many credits garnishing his career. He has attained the honorable level of signature membership of numerous prestigious art societies including Pastel Society of America, National Watercolor Society, Pastel Society of Painters on Cape Cod and Degas Pastel Society. He has received numerous awards including the Grumbacher Gold, Silver and Bronze, many honors from the Pastel Society of America, National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic, Allied Artists of America and many more.

North Shore Arts Association is located at 11 Pirates Lane in Gloucester and opens for the 2009 season on May 6th. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 5pm, Fridays from 10am to 8pm, Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from noon to 5pm.
