THEATER IN BOSTON - January 26, 2008
The Brrrwick Research Institute recommends... the following two events as a cure for the common cold.
A play by The Missoula Oblongata:
The Most Mysterious Day of the Year
secondhand clothes pile
This Saturday, January 26th
Door at 8 pm, a mere $5 donation
@ Mass College of Art, Rm North 181
621 Huntington Ave Boston
Preceeded by a mysterious opening act at 8pm.
The Most Mysterious Day of the Year takes place on Detective Agency Row-home to the gallant Busy Mapleswap (private eye) and twenty paces across the way, the villainous and axe-wielding Haricot Ellicot (also private eye). As the play opens, the fall of Morse code is imminent. The telephone girls are long gone, and Haricot Ellicot's side project-the community boxing ring-has spiraled out of control. As kitten is pitted against parakeet in what promises to be the match of the century, the community of Detective Agency Row is forced to answer the question: will anyone attend Busy Mapleswap's annual kaleidoscope convention?
This vaudvillian wunderkammer is brought to the good people of Boston by Ian Gray, MassArt, and the Berwick Research Institute.

The Missoula Oblongata is is the name given to the collaboration between long-time friends Donna Sellinger, Madeline ffitch and Sarah Lowry. As a company, it is committed to creating original theatre that manages to be aggressively inventive and experimental, while tipping its hat to established traditions such as clown, vaudeville, and storytelling. Their first international tour (2006) earned them a spot on the Top Ten List at the 2006 Montreal International Fringe Festival, and a place among the "Best of the Fringe" (See Magazine) at the Edmonton Fringe Festival (the second largest fringe festival in the world). The company's first original work, The Wonders of the World: Recite was called "the most charming original production of the year" and was named one of "A Dozen Defining Arts Moments of 2006" by The Missoula Independent.
