Are they really good or wicked or both? That's the question the
viewers may be asking in this new show Wicked Good, paintings and
drawings by Diana Pyatov and Yuko Nakatani. Can you hold wicked in
one hand and good in the other and walk assuredly in the direction of
your vision? Do you need help? Diana and Yuko do.
Diana is motivating herself with a series called "raise our
self-esteem so that we can do good things", paintings and drawings of
perception, vision, and meditation. Diana uses ink, acrylic, oil and
glitter to make her naïve and abstract work. Yuko's paintings are
dark, blurry and sometimes funny. Recently, she is inclined to use
more light in her chaotic world, such as in the "peanut butter" series
where Yuko uses only lines and dots to make the paintings look
"yummy". Her "Magic Octopus" series is inspired by Ringo Starr's
song, "the magic octopus is always with your companion in any dark world".
Diana and Yuko will also have an interactive art piece here the
audience will have a chance to participate in the art making and be
able to get a piece of that art at the end of the process.
