BROOKLINE ARTISTS EXHIBITION - January 26, 2008
The Brookline Arts Center welcomes Attempted Gallery, an annual and exciting free event sponsored by the Brookline Council for the Arts and Humanities. For one delightful evening only, Saturday, January 26, 2008, from 7:00-10:00pm, the Brookline Arts Center will show this giant group exhibition of over 40 local artists. This is a wonderful FREE community event where visitors can enjoy a sample of the work of Brookline’s many fine artists.
All forms of visual art will be on display, including paintings, prints, watercolors, sculpture and more, in both large and small formats. Much of the artwork is for sale, providing an incredible chance for collectors and the general public to acquire original pieces directly from the artist. If you are an artist and would like to participate in Attempted Gallery, please visit www.brooklineart.net.
During the evening, the hip, new and young Jon Fisher Quartet will present a musical performance of be-bop and swing jazz. The quartet is composed of local high school students with an impressive background. They have opened for George Russell, Jr. at a Highland Jazz Series Show, and performed at the Regattabar at the Charles Hotel, the Harvard Faculty Club, the Atrium Mall, the Lily Pad and many other venues. Nathan Berla-Shulock is on the Saxophone, Jon Fisher on the Piano, Sam Fisher on the Bass and Alex Kurland is on the Drums. The band’s music focuses on be-bop and simple, straight-ahead swinging jazz, but other influences include Brazilian and Cuban musical forms.
The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth Street in Brookline, one block from the St. Mary’s stop on the MBTA Green line. For more information, call 617-566-5715 or visit www.brooklineartscenter.com.
