Call to artists - Brooks Estate Picnic Art Exhibit and Sale - June 22, 2007
The Medford-Brooks Estate Land Trust (M-BELT) is pleased to once again invite local artists to exhibit and sell their works at the annual Brooks Estate Picnic and Art Exhibit. This year's picnic will be held on Saturday, July 7 from 12:00 to 3:00pm at the Shepherd Brooks Manor yard, and the art exhibit will be inside the Manor.
Since it is usually hot on picnic day, the Manor interior is more comfortable, and we will have the two front rooms available, for plenty of space and good natural light. Bring your own table, we can provide chairs.
Basic picnic food will be provided - hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, soft drinks. Please feel free to bring a salad, snack, or dessert item to share, but it is not required. This event is free and open to everyone. Guided tours of the Manor will start around 1:00, but the artists' area will be open for the entire 3 hours.
Since there will be other artists there and the picnic is right outside the Manor, you will not be required to stay with your exhibit for the entire time. We want you to be able to enjoy the picnic! Set up starts at 10:00 and all exhibits must be in place by 11:00. Break down will start at 3:00 and end by 4:00.
On picnic day, you may drive up to the Manor to drop off materials, but due to space limitations you should then park on any side street off Grove Street and walk into the Estate from the large green gate just past Oak Grove Cemetery. Please do not park in the Cemetery.
Every effort will be made to accommodate all who wish to exhibit, but ideally we only have room for 10 artists. In lieu of a registration fee, we ask each artist to donate a small item for the Picnic Raffle. Your name and item will be listed on a display board at the picnic. If you have never been to the Estate, please check our website at www.BrooksEstate.org. If you are interested in exhibiting or need more details, the contact person is Audrey - Email her at audreys@aemail4u.com or call 781-395-0887 and leave a message.
