A Series of Public Program in Conjunction with the Exhibition Cameron Jamie
Cambridge, MA–April 2007. The MIT List Visual Arts Center (LVAC) is pleased to present an eclectic series of public programs in conjunction with the exhibition Cameron Jamie. Cameron Jamie, the first U.S. solo museum exhibition featuring the work of the artist was originally organized by Philippe Vergne, Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in close collaboration with the artist, Cameron Jamie. Unless noted all programs are free and open to the general public.

To the People of New York City – Palermo In and On America
Christine Mehring, Assistant Professor of the History of Art at Yale University
Mehring will lecture on the metal paintings of German abstract painter Blinky Palermo from her forthcoming monograph.

Screening of JO with live sound score by Keiji Haino, directed by Cameron Jamie
An evening of new solo work by the internationally recognized Japanese noise artist/composer Keiji Haino includes the Boston premiere of his sound score for Cameron Jamie’s most recent film, JO (2004, 42 minutes). Admission: $12. To purchase and reserve tickets call: 617.253.9477. Tickets will also be on sale at MIT List Visual Arts Center Gallery beginning May 5. Co-presented by non-event.

Visions of the Maid, a lecture by Robin Blaetz, Associate Professor of Film Studies, Mount Holyoke College
Drawing upon various sources, including popular culture, Blaetz examines how Joan of Arc’s androgyny, virginity, and sacrifice have been evoked in relation to women’s evolving roles during wartime.

Sam Ford, who is also a licensed wrestling manager, will discuss transmedia storytelling and the concept of producer/fan interaction.

The MIT List Visual Arts Center is located in the Wiesner Building, 20 Ames St., at the eastern edge of the MIT campus. It is in close proximity to Kendall Square, Memorial Drive, and the Longfellow Bridge.
By T, take the red line to the Kendall/MIT stop, follow Main St. west to Ames St., turn left, and walk one block to the cross walk. The MIT List Visual Arts Center housed in a building identifiable by its white gridded exterior, will be on your left. Signage is on the building.
By car, coming across the Longfellow Bridge or from Memorial Drive, follow signs for Kendall Square. Limited metered parking is available on Ames Street. A parking garage is located at
the Cambridge Center complex (entrance on Ames between Main and Broadway) during business hours and on campus after business hours and on weekends.
