Sculpture Garden in Brookline - May 5, 2007
Gala Introduces Conversation Pieces Sculpture Garden
at the Brookline Arts Center
(Brookline, MA – March 21, 2007) The Brookline Arts Center will celebrate the installation of its new outdoor sculpture garden, “Conversation Pieces” with a gala opening reception on Saturday, May 5, from 7 to 10 pm.
Reception guests will enjoy a large tasting menu and select wines. The Boston Guitar Project, a group of guitarists dedicated to enriching the Boston-area community with live music performances, will provide musical accompaniment at the event. The evening will also feature a silent auction of artwork and gift certificates for several local businesses and organizations. Mystery author Linda Barnes, writer of the Carlotta Carlyle Mystery Series, will be the special guest of the evening.
“Conversation Pieces” surrounds the perimeter of the Brookline Arts Center’s historic 19th century fire station building and is visible from both the Arts Center and the adjacent and recently refurbished Monmouth Park. The sculptures will be on exhibit on a rotating schedule. A committee comprised of Arts Center board and faculty members, art professionals, artists and community representatives selected the sculptures for “Conversation Pieces,” which were all crafted by Massachusetts-based artists.
True to the garden’s name, the chosen sculptures will be inviting and inspire conversation. The opening reception, too, will spark conversation, with its food and wine, music, auction items and special guests.
Tickets to the gala opening reception are $75. To reserve tickets to the event, or for more information, please contact the Brookline Arts Center at 617-566-5715.
The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth Street in Brookline, one block from the St. Mary's stop on the MBTA Green line. For more information, call 617-566-5715 or visit www.brooklineartscenter.com.
