Meeting Place: Maynard Ecology Center
Basement of Neville Place
650 Concord Avenue, Cambridge
We can easily observe the unique shapes and branching patterns of trees after their leaves have dropped in the fall. For this program we will walk on the golf course to look at a number of specimen trees* that are inaccessible to the public during other seasons. We will start outside and finish inside with refreshments and wrap-up. Wear
footwear for walking off-path.
*Trees that illustrate the outstanding
characteristics of their species.
Please register for each event that you plan to attend: Important information on parking will be given to you when you register.

CAMBRIDGE GALLERY EXHIBITION - January 15, 2007
EXHIBITION: INTRO TO CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPEAN MODERNISM
Pierre Menard Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of early modernist and avant-garde art from Central and Eastern Europe.
Most of the artists represented are appearing for the first time in the United States. Exhibition features works primarily by Czech and Hungarian artists: Emil Filla, Hugo Scheiber, Josef Capek, Josef Bartuska, Otto Gutfreund, Jan Lauschmann, Josef Sudek and many others. Also included is early work by Russian artists Grigorii Zimin, Natalia Goncharova, and Marc Chagall.
The exhibition will run from December 8 through January 15.
Opening reception will take place on December 15, from 6-9. Refreshments will be served.

CALL FOR ROSE SELAVY ART - February 1, 2007
Happy Birthday, Rose Sélavy!
The Nave Gallery is planning an impromptu birthday part for Rose Sélavy this April. If you have to ask, who is she; well, maybe this is not the show for you. But if you already know and find her, her alter-ego Marcel Duchamp and other dadists to be an inspiration to your art, please consider joining in the festivities.
What can you do?
Apply to be in a curated exhibit at the Nave Gallery, Somerville, MA.
When?
Submission Deadline: February 1, 2007; Exhibit dates: March 30 – April 15, 2007
Why?
Show your love. Celebrate one of the great creative minds in 20th century art while channeling your own creative muse. Works of all medium will be accepted.
How?

Applicants must submit:
· Up to four (4) images of work relating to this theme. Slides are preferred, but you may submit jpeg files on CD-Rom (300 dpi).
· Sculpture entries must be original and of actual pieces. Installation entries may bbe representative, documenting past installations, with a new proposal for the Nave Gallery space.
· An image list numerically cross-referenced against slides including title, dimensioon, media, and date for each work submitted. For digital submissions, please label each file (artist name)(title) .jpeg. All disks must be labeled with the artist’s name, title, dimension and medium.
· A short statement describing your interpretation of the theme and how it is illuminated by the work submitted
· A resume including email, phone
· $10 entry fee payable to ARTSomerville to defray costs (NOT refundable).
· SASE with adequate postage for return of materials

CALL FOR ENTRIES - January 15, 2007
The Art Committee at Coldwell Banker's Somerville and Mass. Ave., Cambridge offices, is soliciting entries for an upcoming exhibition at our offices. We are curating an exhibition of artwork in the theme of gardens and landscapes in relation to architecture or architectural components. The images should be representative/evocative of Cambridge/Somerville settings.
The works chosen will be exhibited between mid-March and early-May 2007 at the Coldwell Banker office at 313 Highland Avenue in Somerville and/or the Coldwell Banker office at 1730 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge. There will be an opening reception for the artists and the public. Participating artists will receive 80% of the price of any work they sell. The remaining 20% will be donated to a local charity that deals with issues of homelessness in Somerville and/or Cambridge.
The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2007.

Washington Street Art Center Gallery - January 5, 2007
The Washington Street Art Center presents "Welcome Home" by Meghan Bernal on the 5th of January, 2007 at the Gallery 321,WSAC, 321 Washington Street, Somerville.
"Welcome Home" brings an artist to a place where she feels mentally and physically comfortable and at peace. Ironically, to most it is a cold and uninviting state of ruins. Over the span of 3 years, she has taken full advantage of this particular locations hospitality. Using a variety of mixed media, she attempts to convey her connection with certain aspects of a place that was left to fall apart and be forgotten. With words, objects and images, she chooses to rebuild and remember.
The Washington Street Art Center houses the cooperative gallery; hosts studio space for more than twenty visual artists; and presents exhibitions, concerts, workshops for adults and children, and other art initiatives. The Center participates in
Somerville Open Studios each May and sponsors concerts featuring local musicians.
The Washington Street Art Center is between Union Square and Beacon Street: a five-minute walk from Union Square and a ten-minute walk from Harvard Square (two blocks from Beacon Street). Accessible on the #86 bus. Parking is free and ample.
