SHIRIN ADHAMI PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION - Septermber 15, 2006
Photographer Shirin Adhami Reflects on Dolls and their Makers in "Establishing an Other" at Brookline Arts Center
Photographer Shirin Adhami grew up seeing one kind of hobby close up: her
mother owns a doll shop in Milford, Massachusetts. Shirin was never a part
of the doll-making community based in her motherĀ¹s shop, but it was always a
part of her life. In her new series of documentary photos, she examines the
doll-making community as a way of contemplating her own split identity as a
Persian-American and as a resident of a predominantly white, suburban area.
July 19 through September 15, 2006
Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Meet the artist @ free closing reception on September 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
