And, in addition to our gallery and satellite programs, I am pleased to announce that we will present our 2018 Irving and Charlotte Rabb Scholarship to graduating Cambridge Rindge and Latin (CRLS) student, and talented young artist Ezekiel Iammarino. [somartscouncil] Legendary drummer Hamid Drake & world percussion pioneer Adam Rudolph perform at Third Life Studio Thursday! - [somartscouncil]

Karuna Duo (Hamid Drake & Adam Rudolph) Thurs May 3rd, 8pm / $20 Third Life Studio, 33 Union Square  Tix / FB Event Master percussionists Hamid Drake and Adam Rudolph met as teens in a Chicago drum shop. Their shared love for global rhythms and musics have taken them around the world, performing together with Fred Anderson, Don Cherry, Yusef Lateef, Pharaoh Sanders and Hassan Hakmoun, among many others. With their Karuna Duo project, the old friends bring their decades of rhythm conversation to the fore. The name Karuna - Sanskrit for "compassionate action" - reflects their ongoing research into the connections between inner life, musical expression, and creative action as a gesture of compassion.  I am humbled & thrilled to present these two incredible musicians as part of the Mandorla Music Series.  Tix are moving very fast - don't sleep on this.  Video clips:  Hamid & Adam // Hamid solo // Adam solo
