Immaterial Opening Reception @ Washington Street TONIGHT - June 3, 2017 7-10 pm
“Immaterial”, a new body of work by Athena Mae, will be on display at Washington Street from June 3-30, 2017. Join us TONIGHT from 7-10 pm for the exhibition opening (featuring music by Elias Kosznik!)
In her second solo show, Athena turns to the tactile for inspiration – utilizing traditional materials and methods in non-traditional applications, she works toward a sense of grounding. At a time when personal art and expression feels of little consequence, these materials help to serve as a physical and spiritual tether.
Athena has been binding books for over a decade. She is a graduate of the North Bennet Street School and a resident artist at Washington Street. Beyond exhibitions here, her work has been shown at Old Corner Bookstore, Bromfield Gallery, Aviary, and the Boston Architectural College.
Show on view Saturdays in June from 12 pm – 4 pm or by appointment.
