One spot left in New Introduction to Woodcarving Course

We have one spot that just opened up in this amazing course taught by one of our members Drew Hatzung. Drew just returned from a couple months in Thailand on our Makerspace Cultural Exchange Residency Program, and he was able to learn traditional Thai woodcarving techniques. Pair this with his background and experience in woodworking here, this class is not to miss!

Event Schedule:

Class 1: Learn the Tools 4/5, 4:30- 7pm
Students will learn the proper and safe use of many different hand chisels, carving knives, and the flex-shaft.
Class 2: Play with the Tools 4/12, 4:30- 7pm
Students will use the skills they learned in the previous class to start on a project of their choice under the guidance of the instructor.
Class 3: Smooth and Sand 4/19, 4:30- 7pm
In this final class, students will finish carving and will spend time sanding or polishing their piece.

Class Description:

In this three-week introductory class, students will experiment with many different methods of carving wood using traditional and modern tools. Students will spend time getting to know Southeast Asian carving chisels, European chisels, and Flex-Shaft Carving Tools, and use them to create intricate decorative work and large sculptural pieces.
