Holistic Living and Topics in Herbalism

 

Hi Everyone,

We're  happy to hold an event for adults interested in mindfulness & holistic living:

Restorative/Yin Yoga is an eight week series, held on Wednesdays, January 4-February 22 8:00-9:15 PM for $15 per class or $96 for the whole series. Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time than most other yoga styles. This series is offered for all-levels of experience. Expect a meditative yoga class comprised of relaxing, calming poses, designed to help you unwind from your day. You can register for the class here.


Under Topics in Herbalism and More, where adults are allowed to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits that plants and essential oils can provide. The Armory presents:

This is Not Your Grandmother’s Lye Soap is a one time class on Wednesday October 19th 7-9pm for $30. The class will be covering cold process soap making by teaching about the history of making soap, discussing ingredients to include, a thorough explanation of process and safety and a demonstration of soap making. Each participant will walk away with a bar of handmade soap by Little Beehive Farm Products. You can register for the class here.

Body Lotion and Lip Balm from Simple All-Natural Ingredients is a one time class on Tuesday November 15th from 7-8:30 pm for $20. In the class, you will learn how to make your own body lotion, lip balm, and spray from simple all-natural ingredients. The lotions will be made using orange blossom or rose distilled waters, essential oil, with blue chamomile, and oils infused with locally-harvested healing herbs such as violet and St. John’s Wort. The lip balms will be made with the same natural ingredients. Participants will leave with products that will keep their skin soft and healthy made in this hands on class. Returning to Our Roots is a one time class on Thursday November 17th from 7-8:30 pm for $25. Fall is the time to unearth medicinal roots and incorporate them into our daily lives. They help us stay healthy and nourished throughout the cold months. This will be a fun and informative workshop where participants with discuss taste and experience several wild and cultivated roots. They will learn their medicinal value and how and when to use each root at home. Each participant will leave with a root-based chai tea blend that they will blend together in class. Cold/Flu Natural Remedies is a one time class on Tuesday November 29th from 7-8:30pm for $20. Many foods in our kitchens have medicinal properties that have been used for centuries to help people stay healthy. In this class you will learn about your immune system stay strong. Participants will walk out with two products including an herbal honey, and immune stimulating vinegar. Handouts with the recipes will also be provided. You can register for the class here.


For all of the above classes, it is suggest that participants sign up at least 2 weeks in advance.
